You heard it here first -- Notice the last line... Cell phone reception at my house is terrible, but the rest of town is covered well. For several days I've been seeing the "EV" symbol start appearing in my cell phone display but haven't been able to actually connect to the EVDO broadband network until tonight. If I am able to get on with it from here with 1 bar and get 350kbps, that means almost everywhere else around here will give me close to 800kbps as an average useable speed.
For those unfamiliar with this service -- most of the rest of the country already has it. It gives you essentially DSL comparable web access via the cell phone system pretty much anywhere. For me, it makes working while waiting for one soccer practice or another about 100 times more productive.
