Of the 9000 servers in the H1 datacenter, about 3000 of them were on the first floor. The 6000 second floor servers are pretty much back on line but those on the first floor have taken much longer. Replacement generators had to be found, parts replaced, and frantic electrical from very tired people have all led to more down time.
Because restoring power to the first floor was taking so long, the offered to physically move anyone's server who wanted it moved to another data center. About 500 servers were requested moved. They had about 3/4 of those done when they got their replacement generator in place. They were using anyone with arms and legs to carry equipment to their other data center all day. Now they've got power, and are asking those who had requested a move if they still want that to happen.
Here's an audio message from Doug Erwin, chairman and CEO of The Planet which details some of the trials http://service-update.theplanet.com/Erwin-msg6-3-08.wav.
