Got Snow? Last night I spent the night at the fire station. We staff the station on the rare occasion when road conditions are such that we're unlikely to be able to make a suitable response to an emergency from home. This is almost always due to a heavy snowstorm which is expected to leave the roads impassible for several hours. We'd stayed up watching Ladder 49, then the kids (Explorers, age 14-17 who are a huge help) played truly horrific x-box games like 'Grand Theft Auto' until 2am on the LCD projector and surround sound speakers. When I came home, I took a nap then cleared the drive (three times), dug out the propane tank access in the back yard and the path to it so the guy can fill it, and then dug out the generator intake and exhaust vents and lp gas diaphragm regular so if (when) we loose power tonight, the house stays warm and the servers stay up. Finally, I took these pictures.
With more than a foot still on the ground from the last snow, what we didn't need was another dumping of snow. After these were taken, we got about 4 more inches by dark. These were all taken today (March 12, 2005) at my home. The child dressed in pink from head to toe is my 5 year old future engineer, who has decided to be either an architect or a "math princess". I'm not sure what a "math princess" does, but rest assured, the title suits this little girl who is at the same time the most natural engineer I've ever met and as girly-girl as they come. The pictures on the bottom here are of my new ride, which I like a great deal.
