I mostly listened to the convention speeches this week as I've been heads down programming on client work for 18-20 hour days. One that made a big impression was Al Sharpton. Now I don't care for Al's politics all that much -- he's too far off the center for me on some things -- but I really enjoy watching or listening to him. The man is a great speaker, and even if he may have been harsher than the message the DNC wanted to deliver he made good points that the rest of the Democrats should be taking with them. The democratic candidates need to stop being embarrassed by their work. Al took credit, as a Democrat, for the work his part did in civil rights -- and why not? The did the work. Sadly, the Republicans were very late to that table.
Other things I've noticed:
John -- Yes, we know about the war hero thing -- talk about other things.
Teresa Heinz Kerry -- I am impressed with this lady.
Barack Obama, State Senator from Illinois, U.S. Senate Candidate (running nearly unopposed) -- wow. Watch this man, you could be looking at a serious candidate a few years down the road for our first black president.. This was a great speech, perfectly delivered, totally on message, and powerfully compelling.
There were other good places, and I didn't follow closely each speaker and speech -- I was working -- but these in particular caught my ear.
