Some of you know that I took a class last weekend at the CCFAS (Cumberland County Fire Attack School). I have to say that one of the coolest things about the weekend was the overwhelming sense of brotherhood when you're around other firefighters. The guys that taught this class are the most skilled, most highly trained, most "T.V. Hero" type firefighters you could ever meet, and yet even when out in the middle of nowhere teaching a bunch of "vollies", there is not the slightest sense of disregard or disrespect. When I say brotherhood, I really do mean that. The terms "Brother" and "Sister" when referring to other firefighters worldwide is common practice and truly meant by nearly every firefighter I've met. I have to say, I am indeed honored to call these men and women brothers and sisters and be called so by them.
Here's some common sayings across the brotherhood of firefighters:
EGH - Everybody Goes Home
RFB - Remember Fallen Brothers
Live to train, train to live
