I have to finally admit that my new modeling clay is Java. I still don't buy into J2EE for building most applications, and I don't see the value in making standards an obsession for work being done within the application itself -- but having gotten comfortable working in Eclipse 3, that's become the place I go when I want to try some new idea out to see where it goes.
Lots of cool NCT programs this year are on the plate as a direct result.

big mountain I don't really need to climb yet. Too complex, I can usually do
want I want with less.
On the fire brigade department front, if you think people are ready to follow
you into a burning building then maybe you should take a chance and see if
you're ready.
My experience in the police service tells me that you never know how ready you
are until you called upon to do something new.
