A big thank you to Ms. "S" -- who set up a wireless linksys with default access
By Andrew Pollack on 08/26/2004 at 04:50 PM EDTI don't know who you are, but I know we were nearby. Last night I stayed at a hotel south of here with my kids. The hotel room internet wire didn't give me an IP. I tried wireless and in 10 seconds was on a wireless router in another room. Must have been close as connection was great. I checked, it was a linksys with the default passwords. I was tempted but did not change it. It was up the whole time I was there. At 10am it needed to refresh its dhcp so I took care of that for Ms "S" (who's name I got from the name of her PC, which had one of the dhcp leases.
Its a really good thing I'm not into cracking people's data.

This is not quite a scam because it's technically legal, but it's run very much like a scam. This company works with a few "clients" that have vast repositories of copyrighted images.
