This blog should now support Safari

By Andrew Pollack on 02/09/2004 at 01:30 PM EST

Hi all;

I've been busier than a one legged man at an ass-kicking contest lately, but one big item off my list was to make this blog work right in Safari. Turns out it was missing just a single closing "</UL>" tag at the end of a monster list -- the archived comments. IE didn't care. Safari did -- it considered everything that came later to be still inside the list and thus couldn't close the span or div tags. Ouch.

I have BIG changes planned, but it will be a week or two before I roll those out. Stay tuned!

Thanks Andrew. I pretty much use my mac now for reading blogs since it has some great tools for blind guys like me which the pc doesn't. Cheers, Bruce

if some of my favorite bloggers will read more, I should have fixed this thing weeks ago when I meant to. I'd better call and get my ADHD meds increased! Nurse Ratchet! Nurse RATCHET!!!! ;-) Of course, now I've got to find something smart to say this week. No pressure....

Your RSS feed description still says "Flames of all kinds". Maybe it should be "Andrew Pollack - Flames of all kinds"

My RSS reader is not picking up any text from your RSS feed :(.

The rss feed needs work. I'm in the process of creating a 3rd generation of my blogware. This time its all about xml and xslt at its core. Everything still rendered in realtime, but this time self assembled at the browser client. The other features will be: 1. granular classification of content to support subscription based on interests. 2. Email notification of topics by interest area, and of responses to specific threads. 3. RSS feeds which are individually customized to the subscriber and thus show only the subject areas you want, and will include varying levels of response notifications and summaries. Other than that, there isn't really anything up my slevel at all -- oh yea, its all powered by multi-threaded servlets running in brightline. :-)

  1. 01/26/2023Better Running VirtualBox or VMWARE Virtual Machines on Windows 10+ Forgive me, Reader, for I have sinned. I has been nearly 3 years since my last blog entry. The truth is, I haven't had much to say that was worthy of more than a basic social media post -- until today. For my current work, I was assigned a new laptop. It's a real powerhouse machine with 14 processor cores and 64 gigs of ram. It should be perfect for running my development environment in a virtual machine, but it wasn't. VirtualBox was barely starting, and no matter how many features I turned off, it could ......
  2. 04/04/2020How many Ventilators for the price of those tanks the Pentagon didn't even want?This goes WAY beyond Trump or Obama. This is decades of poor planning and poor use of funds. Certainly it should have been addressed in the Trump, Obama, Bush, Clinton, Bush, and Reagan administrations -- all of which were well aware of the implications of a pandemic. I want a military prepared to help us, not just hurt other people. As an American I expect that with the ridiculous funding of our military might, we are prepared for damn near everything. Not just killing people and breaking things, but ......
  3. 01/28/2020Copyright Troll WarningThere's a copyright troll firm that has automated reverse-image searches and goes around looking for any posted images that they can make a quick copyright claim on. This is not quite a scam because it's technically legal, but it's run very much like a scam. This company works with a few "clients" that have vast repositories of copyrighted images. The trolls do a reverse web search on those images looking for hits. When they find one on a site that looks like someone they can scare, they work it like ......
