Its funny the way yesterday's high end hardware is today's outdated toy.
By Andrew Pollack on 01/10/2006 at 10:47 PM ESTI'm refurbing a computer to put in my 10 year old's room this weekend. This one will replace the old Blueberry iMac that's in there now. That one will move to the six year old, now that she can read. Looking through the hardware closet to figure out what would be a good machine for her, I realized my old server "Northstar" is sitting idle and in truth will not likely ever again grace the public networks with its own content. All this is a very poetic way of saying my 10 year old is about to end up with a Dual Processor P3 and a gigabyte of ram......to do her 5th grade homework on. Sadly, I had to upgrade the video card so she could play Tony Hawk 4 and "The Sims".

This is not quite a scam because it's technically legal, but it's run very much like a scam. This company works with a few "clients" that have vast repositories of copyrighted images.
