Well friends, not much to tell here that would be of interest. I spent a large part of the day coaching soccer for my middle daughter, teaching soccer to my youngest, and waiting for soccer to finish for my oldest. FWIW, all played exceptionally well.
I suppose you may be either relieved or disappointed to hear that my TB screening was negative. Yours truly remains healthy and hale. I've also now taken the first of three shots required for Hep. B vaccination.
This is the first time I've had to take a medical risk related to the work I do in fire and rescue. You may be saying, "But wait, you take a bigger risk every time you fight fire, stabilize a car, extricate a patient, or whatever other dumb thing you train for." -- and you'd be right I suppose, but this is somehow different. This is more of an alteration of self. I don't know how else to explain in. In any case, all went well. Once they found a needle made of Kryptonite (required to pierce my skin) the injection went fine and I've suffered no side effects. I guess that means I'm probably just being an idiot about it.
Tomorrow, our captain (Clay Copp, Engine 1) has arranged for us to go play with the kids next door. The next town over (North Yarmouth) has somehow acquired a building that needs to be destroyed. The owners have donated it to the fire department to practice with first. This should be similar to the first burn training I did, but on much smaller scale. I'll let you know how it went, but probably won't have pictures.
Good night all.
