Apparently, it is our responsibility to "Please Plan Accordingly"
IBM Partners who want access to IBM software, must pay IBM $795 a year. For this, they get access to the worst download interface I have ever come across and a web site that just shuts down for a few days at a time whenever they decide to perform "Maintenance" on it.
IBM Partners have been screaming about this kind of garbage for years, but mostly in forums with limited access. There has been little response from the Partnerworld program managers, and what response there has been is ineffective and completely fails to even attempt to address the concerns listed. I've decided to be more public in my criticism.
I do want to note, that the people within the IBM Lotus organization are overall fantastic, and many of them go way overboard in helping partners. Unfortunately, the Partnerworld program does not have those values to recommend it.
I am responsible for a number of manufacturer's partner web sites. Access to those sides is free, but controlled by program membership. If I ever told someone that I'd be taking the systems down for days at a time, they'd fire me without thinking twice.

thing, I tend to say "great". Obviously, I cannot do that here, because it is
anything but great, that you/we (I have done comparable things in the past,
when something went havoc in the program) have to do that.
Thanks to you Andrew to bring that into the attention of more people.
Unfortunately, I can only agree with all what you said and indeed, we have
hinted on that for monthes if not years in some forums. Whereas other parts of
the partnerprogram have improved and as you pointed out, the people responsible
for the program are listening, we got only promises regarding the download site
..... :-(
