I'm getting on a plane tomorrow for Arizona, where I'm presenting about Second Signal to a regional Chiefs meeting up near Kingman, then flying to Boston where I'll pick up my other suitcase and catch a flight the next morning to London. From there its on to Germany and Rudi-Con.
I can't say I'm going to miss the political ads for the week I'm gone. They, along with some of the conversations I've had, have been increasingly shrill and irritating.
When I travel overseas, I feel distinctly American. Everything from my shoes to my haircut screams it - even the way I walk. I've never been embarrassed about being American. I'm quite proud of our country most of the time. Lately though, I have to say I'm disappointed in many of the decisions we've made and the things our government has done on our behalf. That's going to put just a bit of downer on the trip, I think.

intact and where the current generation of political leaders has failed us
abysmally, young bright minds are watching and (shocking though it may be)
learning from the mistakes they see as well as from history.
Enjoy the trip, do your best to leave the turmoil behind, breath some fresh air
on a foreign shore, revel in the novelty of it and in no time you'll be
homesick again and happy to return to the good ol' USA. Unless of course by
the time you return we've descended into civil war... in which case I recommend
wintering in Trinidad. Cheers!
