In Domino Designer Preferences, check out the settings under "Source Control". This is an important feature, but not one that everyone uses.
If you do not use source control, try turning off the two options:
"Enable automatic export of the design elements (from NSF to disk) on modification"
"Enable automatic import of the design elements (from disk to NSF) on modification"
I'm not sure if you'll see a performance gain or not. I'm trying it for another reason. I've found Domino Designer 9 to be crashtastic when I'm doing a lot of edit/test/debug cycles with some agents. When it's crashed and I've restarted, I've had it come back with hours old versions of my agent code. I'm hoping that turning this off will reduce the chance of that happening.
