Imagine if the newspaper organizations could get back to spending their money on reporters and research in depth instead of the materials, infrastructure, fuel, and overhead associated with distribution?
Plastic Logic seems to be one of the first to actually near market with a reasonable E-Ink alternative. Their product is about the size, shape, and width of a magazine – and is at least somewhat flexible. It also has a long battery life, and can display several standard formats – including PDF. Best of all, the reader has a wireless link of some kind, though so far we don't know just what kind.
The idea of a wireless update capable magazine that's easy to read, comfortable to hold, and won't create massive piles of paper suitable only for the recycle bin is very appealing. The idea of the world's best newspapers getting back to the business of creating solid investigative content is even more so.

for reference later that would be something. If it could also behave like a
notepad with encryption capabilities better still...
What if you could go to your local library and borrow books, magazines and
comics for reading on this device?
It'd have to be bath proof though*.
